BELLE
Belle, the latest show by the Dance Company Deborah Colker, is loosely inspired by the novel Belle de Jour, launched in 1928 by the Franco-Argentine writer Joseph Kessel and transformed into a classic of surrealist cinema almost four decades later, in 1967, by a of his greatest masters, the Mexican Luis Buñuel (1900-1983).
The story of Séverine, the happily married bourgeois who, to fill the deep existential void that consumes her, finds herself unavoidably compelled to cross the frontiers of her fairytale world and spend her afternoons in a randevu, where she attends code-named Belle, seduced Deborah Colker in 2011, shortly after Tatyana's debut, also inspired by a literary work.
